Kara Lock-Harris was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 21, 1970; raised from a toddler in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Childhood for Kara was no easy feat, as she learned many hard life lessons. Even though rejected by her father, her mother was able to muster up enough love to carry her through. One of her favorite memories of her mom, is when she would read Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe and Little House on the Prairie books to her at night. She read so dramatically that Kara was able to imagine the words in her head. Kara fell in love with reading because of her mother’s ability to bring a book alive. Kara started writing her own poems and short stories; always dreaming of having her own words in print one day.

Kara, in her younger years, was not always well versed in Scripture, but that did not stop her Savior from covering her and assisting her with His loving Grace. After pain of rejection and many disappointments, Kara later realized that God was always there with her, wanting what was best for her. He often spoke to her during the darkest times of her life, but other voices wouldn’t allow her to hear Him. Once she was able to see how the enemy had plugged her spiritual ears, the urge to write how she overcame this deafness in book form was pressing; she needed to share her story to help someone else.

Kara is openly Christian and professes the name of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Kara has attended church since she was a young girl and is currently a member of Unity Gospel House of Prayer in Milwaukee, WI under the leadership of Pastors Marlon and Kimberly Lock. Kara is happily married to Deacon Dewayne Harris and enjoys being a mother and grandmother. She enjoys serving and leading in ministry and it has brought her back to her childhood love – writing. That dream that she had as a young girl to write, God never forgot and He made way for it to come to fruition. Kara owes God her life and the world her story of how He brought a poor young girl back full circle from manifold trials and right into His loving arms.
